- This is not said by the controller but it is part of the standard procedure of the pilot, executed before departure.
The pilot must turn the indicated knob from “Standby” to “Transmit” (TX). As soon as this is done, additional info like callsign, speed, altitude, destination… is visible on the radar screen of the controller.
Note:
When landed, the pilot must put the transponder back in “Standby”. This is needed by the controller to distinguish planes on the ground from planes in the air.
