Push back and start up

It's strongly recommended for pilots to know where they are on the airfield (gate or stand), because that will help ATC to find their exact location. A pilot may only ask push-back and start-up if he can do it immediately. Then ATC will answer:

ATC: Beauty 015, Brussels Ground, push-back and start-up approved on T,  report ready for taxi. ("T" (tango) is the name of the taxiway).

To mention the taxiway is not mandatory, but more realistic.

Taxi

90 % of all taxi clearances will be: Taxi to holding point B1, RWY 25R via outer, QNH xxxx

Note: - Always give the QNH with the first taxi clearance

Light & Medium aircraft will taxi to B1, heavy aircraft will sometimes go to P3.

ATC: Beauty 015, Taxi to holding point P3, rwy25R, cross runway 02, QNH xxxx

Light aircraft may also depart via Holding Point B3, or other holding points if the take-off distance is sufficient. Remember they will have to wait 3 minutes behind a departing Heavy and behind a departing Medium aircraft.

Pilots have to ask clearance to cross a RWY if they did not receive it in the taxi clearance!!
