Guest Controller Approval
Regulation in Belgium Division
The Belgium Division is participating in the GCA (Guest Controller Approval) program which is in accordance with R & R 5.1.7.
Any user not being a member of the BE Division, who wants to control a FRA restricted position in the BE Division, has to apply for a prior approval from the BE HQ.
For this approval the following BE requirements apply:
The user shall perform the ATC duties in the English language only. Knowledge of the local languages is an advance, but those shall only be used in the exceptional case of assisting a (newbie) pilot.
The applicant and/or later the approved Guest
- shall have the rating of ADC at the time of application;
- must have sufficient knowledge of the LOA's of the position requested;
- must have sufficient knowledge of the general procedures applied in the BE Division;
- may be subject to a theoretical and/or practical check beforehand;
- especially in respect to other users, his/her behaviour must be in accordance with IVAO and BE Division spirits;
- will have shown in his/her user's profile the granted approval. It is shown by division, however if BE Division HQ allows controlling only on certain FRA positions, the member has to adhere to such restrictions.
- may have the GCA be withdrawn at any time by BE Division HQ, if the requirements are not met any more.
To apply for a BE GCA please contact us by e-mail: be-hq@ivao.aero
Additional information
Although several ICAO recognised languages are spoken in the Belgium territory, within the IVAO BE division only English is used for communication, including that between pilots and ATC.
LoA's valid between BE and its neighbours can be found here
General and specific procedures valid for the Belgium FIR can be found here
After the initial request has been received, a relevant training/trial period may be initiated.
The conditions and practicalities will be forwarded to the applicant.
This period will be finalised by a performance check, like it is done with any student in the BE division.
In a de-briefing of that check the results will be discussed with the applicant, where after the BE-HQ will be advised accordingly so as to finally decide.
